1) IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is one of the most commonly taken English language test for students who aspire to study abroad. IELTS is accepted in all major universities in countries like UK, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada & Singapore. The focus of this Foreign Study test is to test the English language proficiency of an individual to the highest International standards. This test is also required to be taken by immigrants as a part of their file processing for Immigration. Candidates are tested for their skills in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The test is designed in such a way as to cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user of the English language.

Test Format : The test is widely differentiated into two broad categories:-

  1. Academic Module : This test is essentially for candidates who are planning to conduct their further studies abroad.
  2. General Training : This test is essentially for candidates who are planning to settle abroad on a permanent basis, i.e. applied for immigration

IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examination (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP : IELTS Australia.

2) TOEFL

TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) is another widely used English language test which measures the ability of a non-native speaker of English. TOEFL test scores are accepted across all the colleges and Universities in the USA & Canada and is one of the basic requirements for their application process. It is mandatory to take this test for applying to many government agencies, scholarship programs and licensing certificate agencies for evaluation. This test is designed to help you develop effective communication skills useful on a day to day basis and in enhancing English as it is spoken, written and heard.

3) GRE

GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a computer adaptive test which is accepted by all colleges and Universities in the USA & Canada. It evaluates the readiness of a candidate for the graduate-level work. The GRE measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills of an individual. GRE scores are used by the admissions and fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate records and other qualifications for graduate studies. It is mandatory for candidates applying for a Masters Degree Program in all fields except Management studies to take the GRE test.

4) GMAT

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a computer adaptive Foreign Study test that is required to be taken as a part of the admission process into most MBA programs across the world. GMAT scores then become a deciding factor in a candidate being accepted by a Business School. Candidates are measured in their basic Verbal, Mathematical and Analytical Writing Skills, which they would have honed during their education and work.

5) SAT

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a globally recognized Foreign Study Test required to secure admission for Undergraduate degree programs. SAT scores indicate the level of knowledge gathered during the complete tenure of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Most of the students take SAT during their Junior or Senior year of high school. Taking the SAT is the first step towards pursuing a Graduation dream abroad.

The SAT doesn’t test the logic or abstract reasoning. It tests the skills taught during school: – Reading, Writing and Math. To have knowledge in these fields is of prime importance in order to have success and glory during the tenure of the college. It includes the following:-

  1. Critical Reasoning – It includes reading passages and sentence completions.
  2. Writing Section – It includes a short essay and multiple – choice questions on identifying errors and improving grammar and usage.

6) PTE

PTE Academic is a newly introduced International Computer based academic English language Foreign Study test which measures the proficiency in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking of the non-native English speakers. PTE scores are widely accepted by Universities, Higher Education institutions, Government Departments and other related institutions that require high level of English. PTE Academic Test is authorized by the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®)

7) German

German language proficiency is tested by Goethe-Institute examinations. German is considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn proficiently. But, here are a few facts you should know about the language :

  1. German is the second most commonly used scientific language globally.
  2. 18% of all books published globally are written in German and most of them are never translated into English.
  3. Majority of the Western world's important works of Philosophy, Literature, Music, Art, History, Theology, Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering and Medicine are written & published in German even today.

Learning a language or improving existing language skills and thus advancing from one level to the next is a complex and challenging task (According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages published by the Council of Europe in 2000, the levels of learning and teaching are classified as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2). The structure of the language courses at The Goethe-Institute's German language examinations correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and range from A1 for beginners to C2 for language skills at the highest level.

8) French

The DELF exam is a French qualification issued by the French Ministry of Education which verifies the French language ability of foreign students.
